The Braying Brigade – its lies and half-truths

The Braying Brigade is working overtime to denigrate other religions and writing reams about the collaboration between the Christian Churches and the Nazi movement. One special, 24 carat fanatic from the US says rather breathlessly that the Holocaust was the natural and inevitable consequence of the hate-filled teachings that Jesus embodied.
This is funny as it comes from a person who supports the Hindu Hitler and recommends dictatorship for India for a few more decades!
And I will be a idiot if I say that the brutal treatment of the Dalits by the Hindus is a direct consequence of Krishna’s teachings in the Gita, because he says that all divisions are his creations and each has to do his duty without demur.
Let us talk about facts:
1. Of course, the Christian Church was anti-Semitic right from the earlier days. The vile remarks of Martin Luther against the Jews make a horrendous reading.
2. But then beginning from the late 18th century many countries started emancipating the Jews and they in fact became the leading lights in Germany and Austria in many fields of Science, art and politics. Other than the most famous names like Marx, Einstein and Freud there were several others who are listed in this Wikipedia article:

3. Until the advent of Hitler the Germans and the Jews freely intermarried without much fuss.
4. We must remember that the Jews comprised around 1% of the German population in 1933. As Kershaw says most Germans of that time would not have met a Jew at all in their lives.
5. Even at the height of his popularity (during the Weimar Republic’s time), Hitler was never able to get 50% of the votes. The Communists and the Social Democrats always polled around 40% of the votes. They were not anti-Semitic. Thus it is a lie to state all the people of Germany were anti-Semitic.
6. As regards the German Church, the role of Pacelli, who later became Pope Pius XII, is dark as attested by Cornwell in his book Hitler’s Pope. But the same author says that the Catholic Center Party of Germany did not listen to Pacelli. The party had an alliance with the Left.
7. As David Alton says, the Jews themselves took a different view of the Pope Pius XII. Pinchas Lapide, an historian and Israeli consul, said that Pius XII “was instrumental in saving at least 700,000, but probably as many as 860,000 Jews, from certain death at Nazi hands.”
After the War, Pius was thanked by survivors of the Holocaust, and tributes included one from Israel’s first President, Chaim Weizmann, and Isaac Herzog, Chief Rabbi of Israel. Rome’s Chief Rabbi, Israel Zolli, became a Catholic and took the Pope’s name as a tribute to him. At the time of his death, in 1958, Golda Meir said, “When fearful martyrdom came to our people in the decade of Nazi terror, the voice of the Pope was raised for the victims.”
8. In 1940 Eistein said: “only the Church stood squarely across the path of Hitler’s campaign for suppressing the truth…I am forced thus to confess that what I once despised I now praise unreservedly.” Thus the truth is not as black and white as the supporter of the Hindu Hitler likes to portray.
9. What is also undeniable is that thousands of Catholic priests were held in Nazi concentration camps and many died.
10. In Poland too, many Christians worked to save the Jews from the Nazi butchery. 6,066 Poles (overwhelmingly Catholic) have been officially recognized in Israel as “Righteous Among the Nations,” for their role in saving the lives of Polish Jews.
The Christians are like any other people in the world. Their reaction to the Nazi phenomenon was also varied and not uniform. There were brutal persons, there were indifferent persons and there were persons who gave their lives to save the Jews.
The other fact which is conveniently forgotten by the Hindu Nazis is that the total population of the Jews is around 14 million. Around 6.5 million Jews live in Israel, which would not have come about but for the support of Christian nations. The rest live in other Christian countries, the US taking the lion’s share. The Jews today are the shining stars in every human activity. Whatever sins the Christians committed they are trying to expiate them. The Hindu Nazis, on the other hand, deny the very fact that Dalits were oppressed. In their mythology, it was the British who made them what they were!
